Do not worry about disappointing others as much as disappointing yourself. Embracing yourself, Carolyn take courage and determination. Congratulations. Peace at any cost is not worth the cost to yourself. I am so glad to be able to help you.

"Never apologize for showing feeling. When you do so, you apologize for the truth." -Benjamin Disraeli

Tricia and Lori - this quote came across my twitter stream yesterday and I immediately retweeted it, mostly so I could find it again when I needed it!

I know really well the fear of disappointing someone (or several someones!). But when I think about what that does to me inside - and the example I'm giving to my children - I'm determined to be more "fearless". A little bit every day, by the end of the year, I'll be a force to be reckoned with ;-)

I think it's also important to be careful "apologizing" just to keep the peace, without regards to my feelings. Being true to yourself shouldn't be accompanied by an apology

You are both so honest and generous. Thank you.

Hey Lori
Our heads convince us of things that are supposed to happen such as the worry over parents seeing the web site and what will they say and or do. The one thought for me that has helped has been Who am I empowering? Who can I help with my services? Then the rest of the mind chatter recedes. I am glad this has helped you. Play full out and enjoy yourself. There will be some who will jump on the band wagon with you and others who will fade in the back round.

Dang, you got right into my head! I have lived almost all of my life according to what I thought I should do to please everyone else. And you know what? It's made me hold back who I am and what I really want! But after my divorce last year, I realized that I have to do what I want to do for me, and what's best for me. If anyone in my life doesn't approve or like it, then that's their decision.

That being said, I am still a little worried about my mother looking at my website once I get it up and really going with what I want to do, but I'll deal with that when the time comes. Until then, I'm forging ahead! What I have realized in the past several months though is that I am not alone in having felt and lived like this. While it's nice to know that I'm not the only one, it's sad that so many of us have withheld our true selves.

Thanks for putting this out there. You gave me a lot to think about and more confidence that I'm doing the right thing.
