Will You Let the Loneliness Stop You?

How many times have you noticed the loneliness when working from home? Do you have a support system in place when you need to just talk? When you have a job you have that constant interaction good or bad. When I first started to work from home the only company I had was mine and when Frank walked in the door I pounced. Chatting a mile a minute, did not give him a chance to put his keys down.

Great points Tricia. Booking time on your calendar to interact with others is important for the Lonely-preneur. When working in an office you have this already built in. It’s a crap shoot and you don’t know exactly what you’re getting into until you’ve been there for a while.
When you start your own business though, you get to build a chosen network of folks to touch base with digitally. In person touch points are important as well. Even for our lovely introverts, sitting outside or in a favorite communal place gives perspective and inspiration.
Here’s a fun site in the Seattle area for freelancers. This website name cracks me up, and the idea is very sound. There might be something local in your reader’s area too.

From the about page:
If you freelance but you’re tired of hanging out at home talking to your cat, why not spend the day, week or month with other writers, designers, art directors, photographers, researchers, planners and consultants in our shared Seattle office space at Put Some Pants On.
For a small, straightforward fee, you get access to a desk, an Aeron chair, conference rooms, high quality color output, a pool table, Wii, high speed internet, amazing views and more. All without leases, landlords – or for that matter, spouses, kids or pets. Sound great? Give it a try!

That is a definite possibility Linda. Create work space outside of your home. Those who wish to stay at home make sure you have a support group ready so when the loneliness sets in you can pick up the phone. You do not want to give up because you feel that no one understands or cause any stress on your relationship by “pouncing” as soon as your significant walks in the door.
